As a writer, I often feel inclined to take note of words that I like. One word I enjoy is ‘smorgasbord’, and I think it is an excellent summary of what this post is going to be: a little bit of everything, plus the kitchen sink!

Yesterday was my school’s spring semi-formal, and since I’m involved with student council I was busy with that. For that reason, I didn’t have a chance to post my response to day four of the Daydreamer Challenge which was to give some blogging tips and tricks.

I have actually done this before, twice (you can read my posts here and here!), but in this post I’ll give one piece of more substantial advice here. Tina Fey said, “Say ‘yes’ and figure it out later!” and I think this quote can definitely apply to blogging.

Yes, you should create a blog. Yes, you should blog about that article you read yesterday and agreed or disagreed with; yes, you should blog about things you’re passionate about. Yes, you should read and interact with other blogs; yes, you should take a risk and join a blogging class or event.

I embodied this quote a few weeks ago when I signed up for Blogging101 – which ended up being a great decision – and then again when I joined Bloglovin’. In all honesty, I still don’t know what it really is; but I said yes, and I’ll figure it out at some point.

Today’s challenge is to write about achievements and goals for your blog. I love this, because I’ve been so busy doing blog-related things these past few weeks I haven’t really had some time to evaluate it all!

In terms of achievements, my biggest one is sticking with my blog. I created sherinaspeaks as part of a school project, and made the decision to continue writing for it after the semester ended. At first, I didn’t get any response from other people or fellow bloggers. However, I loved writing so I continued and now my blog has grown into what it is today!

I’m also really proud of the community I’ve created around my blog. I’ve made friends, helped people, been inspired by other bloggers, and hopefully inspired some people as well. Another achievement would be completing the Blogging101 course, and also sticking with the calendar of scheduled posts I made as a result of the course (this smorgasbord post wasn’t on it… oops).

As for goals, my main one would simply be to continue posting and interacting with other bloggers. Oh, and to start a super awesome new monthly feature that I’m excited to share! I also have some fun award posts coming up, because today I was nominated for three blogging awards which kind of blows me away.

You know what else blows me away? The wind. Have you ever tried to open a car door going against the wind? I wouldn’t recommend it. However, I would recommend having a fantastic weekend and checking back soon for more posts and exciting things!
